Guy interested in me but has a girlfriend?

when i met him he told me that him and his gf broke up. we texted like 3 days straight and the way we texted it made is sound like a possibility for us to date or become closer. we kissed, he kissed me first, we cuddled and stuff, and then a few days later i see on facebook that he is tellin his "ex" that he loves her and nothing will ever come beween them. i dont understand i mean im not pissed or anything ill just be friends with him but i dont understand what the point of him wanting to get to know me was when obviously he is still with his gf. i mean what was the point of him kissing me?
